A large coloured print, mounted on board 24½ x 20 ins overall, titled LIKE FATHER LIKE SON showing portraits of F. M. Earl Roberts of Kandahar, V.C. and his son The Late Lieut. The Hon. F.H.S. Roberts V.C. above a view The Battle of Colenso. Dec. 15th 1899. There is a little damage to the left shoulder of Lord Roberts but the print is better condition than would usually be expected for something of this age and size. Lord Roberts won his V.C. in the Indian Mutiny when he was serving in the Bengal Artillery. His son, born 1872 in north India was serving in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps at the battle of Colenso and awarded a Victorian Cross posthumously after his death in 1899. oct14/1
