Royal Engineers Band at Woolwich, 5th December 1916

£65.00

The WW1 group portrait shows the band with instruments including some of their stringed ones and a harp [bandsmen have usually played at least two instruments]. The photograph, 11¼ x 9¾ ins, is double mounted on grey photographer’s card and the sitters are all identified on the lower margin. The print is in excellent condition but some of the mount paper is lifting towards the left corner. The group is taken in front of the handsome bronze statue of General Gordon mounted on a camel.    jul2/2
