 Sir Alfred Scott-Gatty, K.C.V.O. was born in 1847 in West Yorkshire and served as a herald in the offices of Roue Dragon Pursuivant and York Herald before becoming Garter Principal King of Arms in 1904. The Spy cartoon, 13½ x 7 ins visible is in a professional window mount and currently covered in removable protective cellophane. He is shown in ceremonial tabard wearing the cross of a Knight of the Order of St John at the neck. aug2/3
