This gilt 23mm button is the pattern worn on the cloth court dress in Victorian times when cut steel buttons were worn on the silk uniform. It is of high quality with the backmark E. STILLWELL & SON 25 BARBICAN & 6 LITTLE BRITAIN LONDON. The button retains some of the original gilt. apr22/1
