Victorian gilt brass photograph frame of high quality

£80.00

The 4½ x 3¼ gilt brass frame is of fine quality and its severe design makes it ideal for a military portrait. The oval aperture could have been specifically designed for a carte de visite, especially the type produced when the fashion was for the face to be displayed in an oval cartouche. The frame is fitted with a strut support and a top ring so that it can be dispyed on a desk or table or hung on the wall. These small frames were often found in travelling cases. One of the illustrations shows it with such a cvd of an Indian prince but that card is not included – although it can be found elsewhere in the Indian Princes category on this website.   dec21/1
