Volunteer Yeomanry trooper, circa 1900

An attractive cabinet card  by W. Greenwood, Thornes, Wakefield showing the trooper in service dress with typical overseas slouch hat and bandolier. The bust length figure is almost certainly an Imperial Yeomanry volunteer photographed before leaving for South Africa. I can’t be sure about the design on the button but it could incorporate the Prince of Wales’s crest, possibly making him a Yorkshire Hussar.  sep22/4
