WOLVERTON, a baron’s crested livery button of the GLYN family, 26mm gilt.

£8.00

A 26mm crested gilt button with backmark FIRMIN LONDON showing the Glyn family crest of an eagle’s head with an escallop in its beak, with a little rubbing to the high points of the design. This probably dates from the time of Frederic Glyn, 4th Baron Glyn [1864 – 1932] who succeeded his brother in 1888 and was a conservative politician who served in the royal household, variously as lord-in-waiting and vice-chamberlain. He served in the North Somersetshire Imperial Yeomanry during the South African was and was later Hon, Colonel of the 10th Bn. Middlesex Regt. There are also two Glyn baronetcies. feb20/3
