13th Prince Albert’s Light Infantry, officer’s gilt 21mm coatee button
£45.00
An extremely fine example of an early Victorian officer’s gilt 21m coatee button of the 13th Prince Albert’s Light Infantry with the backmark JENNENS & Co. LONDON . Unlike post 1855 examples of Somersetshire Light Infantry buttons this example has the regimental number XIII in Roman numerals and also has the rare distinction of using a mural crown in commemoration of its proud defence of Jellalabad during the 1st Afghan War, in honour of which it was granted in 1842 its Prince Albert’s title. The button retains the full original gilt finish and would have been the largest size worn on the coatee, may29/1
