14th King George’s Own Sikhs, an officer’s scarlet tunic, early George V period
£440.00
A slightly defeective scarlet tunic of an officer of the 14th King George’s Own Ferozepore Sikhs dating from between 1911 and 1922 after which the regiment became a battalon of the 11th Sikhs. The tunic is very sound, with a particularly good lining. It lacks the collar badges [described in Regulations as the Royal and Imperial cypher surmounted by a Tudor crown] which cypher would be GRI, It also needs one or two bath stars to the epaulettes as the lace suggests a junior officer. The tunic retains its full compliment of buttons by HOBSON & SONS LEXINGTON ST. LONDON , eight large to the front, six tlo the back, and two small to the epaulettes. There are a few small areas of damage to the cloth. jun22/1
