Frontispiece, 11 copperplate engravings (of 12, lacking the plate of Pisa) comprising 7 plates of Egyptian and Memeluke people, one of a Bedouin, and plates of Baaden, Toplitz, and Pyrmont, folding table of the royal house of Saxony, 10pp, unpaginated calender106p (Liste Genealogique [26pp, table synchronistique, etc], 126pp apercu statistique de l ‘Allemagne + one folding temperature chart, [4pp]. Contemporary full leather with title in black and a black Napoleonic bee to the centre of each board, decorative endpapers, all edges gilt, large armorial bookplate of Nicolaas van Oosterzee to front endpapers, an excellent, attractive copy with only minor wear to the boards and an old water stain to frontispiece and title page. The title page and the titles under the prints are in German, the remainder of the text is in French. The bee symbol on the binding might suggest that the original owner had Napoleonic leanings.     dec8/2
