A 25mm brass button of the 19th Foot, 1st Yorkshire North Riding (Princess of Wales’s Own) as worn on the scarlet tunic. The button has the backmark   SMITH & WRIGHT BIRMINGHAM and is the pattern worn from 1855 to 1881 when its title became 1st & 2nd Bns. The Green Howards (Alexandra, Princess of Wales’s Own Yorkshire Regiment. The steel plate with the backmark is somewht degraded but sound and the brass is very good   sep28/2
