1st West York RifleVolunteers button, Volunteers, 25mm white metal

The white metal 25mm button has the design of the rose within a circle with the wording  1ST WEST YORK RIFLE VOLRS beneath a Victorian crown, within a laurel wreath. The backmark is SAMUEL BROTHERS LONDON. There is a little rubbing to the high points but the button is generally good. The unit was raised in 1880, its predecessor having been the 1st  Admiin. Bn. West York Volunteers . We have a button for that unit too which will be listed soon. This is another button from my old  Yorkshire collection which has not seen the lighht of day for forty years or more.  sep23/3
