20th Deccan Horse, officers silver fronted pouch with belt and fittings, 1913
£1,100.00
A complete shoulder belt and pouch of the 20th Deccan Horse, the regimental title held from 1903 until 1921 when it was amalgamated with the 29th to become the Royal Deccan Horse. The pouch has a silver front hallmarked London 1913 with the maker’s mark E. S. & S., the loops attaching the pouch to the belt also partially hallmarked. The belt is of hussar lace with a central white stripe and the belt tip, imperial crown, prickers and mount are all of silver plate. Although we have a few other pouches this is the only one we have complete with its belt. The regiment had its earlier antecedents in the Hyderabad Contingent and an example of one of their pouches will be found elsewhere in this category. jul11/2
