47th (Lancashire) Regt. of Foot officer’s gilt 25mm button 1885-1881

A very good example of the officer’s 25 mm gilt button of the 47th (Lancashire) Regt. of Foot and has the backmark JENNENS & Co. LONDON. The design carries the Napoleonic period battle honour TARIFA for the 1811/12 siege. The button reains most of the original gilt finish with just a little rubbing on the high points of the design and shanl is just a little loose. After 1881 the regiment became the 1st Bn. The Loyal Regt. (North Lancashire).  jun8/4
