49th Princess Charlotte of Wales’s Regiment of Foot, officer’s 25mm gilt button, 1855-81

A pleasing example of the officer’s gilt 25mm button of the 79th (Princess Charlotte of Wales’s) Regiment of Foot with the backmark JENNENS & Co. LONDON . The button was worn on the officer’s tunic from 1855 to 1881 when the title changed to the 1st Bn. The Royal Berkshire Regiment (Princess Charlotte of Wale’s) . Although the central area of the button lacks much of the original gilt finish it shows very little wear. jun22/3
