A fine example of the officer’s gilt 25mm button worn from 1881 to 1902 when the pattern changed to an eagle over the crown. The button has the backmark PITT & Co. 51 MADDOX ST. LONDON W and retains the full original gilt finish. Ripley 266 shows this pattern and the replacement one 267. jul30/3
