An excellent example of the officer’s 25mm gilt button of the 86th (Royal County Down) Regt. of Foot as worn from 1855 until 1881 when it became the 2nd Bn. The Royal Ulster Riflesb. It has the backmark JENNENS & Co. LONDON and reains virtually full original gilt finish. One of the fairly difficult Irish regiments to find and, the button has the striking and attractive design of the numeral beneath a crowned harp. jun8/10
