90th (Perthshire Volunteers Light Infantry) Regt. of Foot. Officer’s gilt 24mm
£38.00
A very fine and handsome good example of the 90th Foot, Perthshire Volunteers Light Infantry officer’s gilt button of 24mm showing the regimental number within a crowned strung bugle. The Scottish button has the backmark JENNENS & Co. LONDON and is clean and crisp but a little dull in parts where the original gilt finish is worm. This seems to be scarcer variety than the standard pattern with a simple 90 within a circle, the only style shown in Ripley 179. An example of the design with the bugle is shown in Squire plate 24/11 but it is brass other ranks version with the comment that it was worn for a short time before 1871. nov18/5
