A very good full plate group photograph of the Maharaja and his suite, 11 x 8 ins, itself in very good condition but on a fragile old card album leaf, identified in a contemporary hand H.H. The Maharajah of Alwar & Suite. The Maharaja was born in 1859 and ruled from 1874 to 1892. The British officer seated next to him is presumably the Resident of the 17 gun salute state in Rajasthan. feb14/4
