A good late Victorian carte de visite showing a portrait of Rao Jee Kesari Singh of Amjhera, a small non salute state in the Dhar area of the modern State of Madhya Pradesh. The ruler is shown bust length wearing jewels and a tight turban of the kind associated with princes such as Jaswant Singh of Jodhpur. Although there is no photographer’s credit to the cdv the ruler’s name is printed below in Hindi. nov26/1
