A very attractive armorial carriage or harness mount in the form of a crest of a knight’s helm decorated with a face, to some extent resembling a rather sinister looking man in the moon. The highly polished visible surface is backed with lead and has four fixing prongs for mounting. It measures approximately 2½ x 2 ins [60 x55mm]. We believe this to be 19th century in origin. jul11/4
