Bombay Staff Corps, officer’s 25mm button

£15.00

The large sized 25mm officer’s gilt button  of the Bombay Staff Corps has the backmark of  JENNENS & Co. LONDON. The button was worn from 1861, when the three Presidency staff corps were formed in the remodelled Indian Army after the demise of the Company, until 1876 when they were amalgamated into a single Indian Staff Corps. This size was worn on the tunic and the frock coat.  This example retains full gilt on the front. Bombay had the smallest of the three Presidency armies.    jul5/6
