BOMBAY. Thovsal bronze medal commemorating the Royal Visit of HRH The Prince of Wales in 1921
£125.00
The oval bronze medal measures 30 x 45mm [including the PoW feathers for the suspension ring. The obverse shows a portrait of Prince Edward [later King Edward VIII] and the reverse has the lettering VISIT OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS BOMBAY NOVEMBER 1921. The has much of sort of copper finish. The Prince arrived at Bombay at the start of his visit to India although he departed in 1922 from Karachi. aug20/1
Some mystery surrounds this medal. I have never seen a convincing explanation of to whom it was awarde and by whom. Nor have I ever seen a picture of anyone wearing it.
