Lancer officer photographed in India, 1860s

A carte de visite without the usual credit to the verso but with a signature on the backcloth near the officer’s spur which seems to be G J Lafend. The cavalry officer wears a frock coat with the single medal ribbon for the Indian Mutiny and the photograph almost certainly dates from the 1860s. The design of his cap suggest he is a lancer.     jan11/3
