Coloured prints of artistic Himalayan views, 1936

Chitra, V R: Enchanted Himalayas. A portfolio of 10 prints of stylised views of the Himalayas dated 1936. The ten prints, each approximately 9½ x 6 ins, are tipped by the top edge to large folio sheets of thick paper, approximately 17 x 13 ins. Several have the artist’s signature dated 1936 in the print. A strikingly stylish treatment of familiar views but we know nothing more about them. The original paper folder in which they were issued is present but very dilapidated. However the title is intact and the folder has served its purpose in keeping the prints together and quite clean for nearly a hundred years.      may3/2
