CROMPTON. A 19th century armorial bookplate of Mary Susan Hazel Crompton, 89 x 70mm. Bookplates for named women are far less common than the usual family ones and it probably signifies an heiress. The bookplate is somewhat soiled and wearing rather thin with a small hole to the top left just outside the printed design. feb10/5
