A remarkable image of the five Colonels of the Regiments of Foot Guards, the original taken by Gale & Polden, Aldershot and dating from the mid 1930s. The visible image measures 11 x 8 ins [34 x 20 mm]. The five colonels had each signed the original mount beneath their portraits – Cavan, F.M. Colonel Irish Guards [Frederick, 10th Earl of  Cavan], Edward P. Colonel Welsh Guards [H. R. H. Prince Edward, Prince of Wales, later King Edward VIII], Arthur, F.M. Colonel Grenadier Guards [H. R. H. Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught], Albert Colonel Scots Guards [H. R. H. Prince Albert, Duke of York, later King George VI]. There can be very few original examples of this photograph outside Royal or regimental collections. npv26/4

Like all the images in this category this is a copy made by our printer in exactly the same size as the original which we sold at some time in the last ten years. It is printed on thin white card leaving a margin around the image. These were made for our own reference purposes and we are now releasing the very few extra copies we had made at the time from an original now in a private or institutional collection.
