GWALIOR. An atmospheric vintage photogrpah of a gun salute being fired.

£38.00

A very good and atrmospheric photograph of a gun team firing a salute, late 1930s. The Maharaja Scindia of Gwalior was a very sociable and generous host often entertaining other ruling princes, visiting European royalty and high British officials so his state forces had lots of practice at gun salutes. His Highness himself was one of the small number of princes who received a 21 gun salute. The unmounted photograph is in excellent clean condition with just marks to the four corners of the reverse where it has been tipped to an old paper album leaf.       may16/1
