Frontispiece portrait of the Dewan with the late Maharaja, dedication plate to Maharani Sahiba printed in red within gilt rules with the arms of Hutwa embossed in red, blue and gilt, folding linen backed genealogical table in rear pocket, 63pp, lxii (appendices), 7pp supplement. Original red cloth gilt, front board attractively gilt blocked with arms of the state and orders of the Indian Empire and British Empire and the Kaisar-i-Hind Medal, spine faded, cloth on rear board a little creased in places, generally an excellent copy, internally very clean, inscribed and signed by the author in ink on front free endpaper. Hutwa was a very wealthy, large state in Bengal, whose very young Maharaja, Guru Mahadev Asram Prasad Sari, succeeded at the age of three in 1896 and assumed his powers at a lavish Junao ceremony in 1904.    feb6/5    RESERVED 16th July 2024
