HYDERABAD. An unused gilt embossed invitation card from H H the Nizam
The 6 x 5 ins gilt edged card embossed in gold with the Nizam’s arms with his full title further shown to the left. This unused invitation was issued for events at the Saifabad Palace. The palace was built in 1885and until recently it had been part of the local government’s secretariat building but it was demolished in 2020. A memento of a glittering but very much vanished past. jul5/1
The invitation dates from the 1911-48 reign of H.H. Sir Mir Osman Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VII whose long title appears top left on the card.
