IDAR. Maharaja Kesrisinghji Jawansinghji of Idar.

An excellent carte de visite by BOURNE & SHEPHERD PHOTOGRAPHERS INDIA with a half length seated portrait of H. H. Maharaja Kesrisinghji Jawansinghji of Idar, a 15 gun salute state ruled by the Rathor family, a more senior member of which was the Maharaja of Jodhpur. He was born in 1864, succeeding in 1868 and was wducatred at Rajkumar College in Indore. The phtogograph probably dates form the 1880s  although the Maharaja does not wear the Star of the K.C.S.I which he was awarded in 1887.     jun28/1
