Indian Police, officer’s shoulder belt and pouch complete with all silver plated fittings

£550.00

An Indian Police officer’s cross belt and pouch by RANKEN & Co. of Calcutta. The face of the original belt has lost almost ll of its original patent leather finish which tends to happen in hot climates. It does however retain all its fittings = cross belt badge and slightly larger pouch badge with IP within a wreath and beneath a king’s crown, large buckle, adjustment slider and tail piece, whistle with chains from a lion boss, The slider is marked RANKEN & Co and the buckle is stamped R & Co. This item probably probably dates from the WWI period when the Indian Police, always run along military lines, had an Army battalion.      apr12/1
