Infantry officer, circa 1881, of an unidentified line regiment

The carte de visite by Debenham & Co., Rembrandt House, Palmerston Road, Southsea shows a lieutenant of an infantry regiment holding an 1881 home pattern helmet but he is still wearing his bath star on the collar, a practice which was changed to the shoulder in 1880. The helmet plate centre seems to be a castle.      jan16/2
