A very good and large [approx. 11½ x 9½ ins.] vintage photographic portrait of an elephant outside the entrance to the City Palace at Jaipur. The old photographer’s card is damaged with loss around the edges but leaving a decent margin around the image, which is itself in very good condition. The elephant’s mahout is seated in fromt of the decorated howdah and other elephants are nearer the gateway suggesting preparations for a procession. apr5/2
