Large photographic family group portrait including a general officer.

£40.00

The large , 20 x 15 ins, triple portrait is backed with grey card, a little damaged around the edges, top right corner creased, small area of damage lower right. Seeming to be a family group, all three officers wear dress uniform and the portrait probably dates from the reign of Edward VII. The general officer seated to the right holds his cocked hat and his sword is particularly prominent. To his left, as viewed, is a subaltern of the Royal Horse Artillery and between them is another subaltern of the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. There is no identifying detail but a painstaking examination of army lists might find officers with the same surname in three relevant lists. sep10/3
