Lt Col A McIntyre, photographed in Canada, late 1860s

£45.00

A carte de visite with a waist length portrait of the officer seated and interestingly inscribed on the verso A McIntyre Esqr Lieut Colonel 6th Regt, Inverness, River Dennis, Cape Breton. Inverness County is a district on the River Dennis on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada. There is no photographer’s credit on the card.          jan17/1

The 6th Regt noted on the card is probably the 6th Regiment of Canadian Militia [Duke of Connaught’s Rifles] which saw acrive service during the Fenian Raids 1866-70. I am assured by an expert on Canadian uniform that this is the undress uniform of the Nova Scotia Militia 1864-68.
