The oval brass name plate measures 2¾ x 2 in [70 x 30 mm] and is engravd in copper plate Mr Luke. It has four holes for fixing and remains of two prongs on the back which may have been an earlier kind of fixing. Luke may have been someone’s surname but withina household it Mr Luke would be the form of address for a son. This could have been on a door or marking ownership of a box or piece of luggage. Probably 19th century. nov23/1
