The 10 x 8¼ ins. invitation is handwritten on printed paper of The International |Society of Literature, Science, and Art at The Marlborough Gallery inviting Major General Sir P. S. Lumsdent to become a Fellow along with a limited numbezr of other Fellows of the Royal Asiatic Society. It is dated Dec.19 1891 and signed G. M. Hill, Secretary. This is pasted to half of an part of an old card page.   feb15/6

Provenance: This was in an album put together by General Sir Peter Stark Lumsden, G.C.B., C.,S,I., A. D. C. [b1829]. We acquired this in a large archive of the general’s papers, documents, and photographs . Lumsden served almost his entire career in India but also had strong connections with Queen Victoria and his albums included many senior officers on both Royal and Viceregal Staffs.
