Vol I: Frontispiece portrait, xi, 324pp; vol II: Engraved frontispiece of Lake Tiberias, xi, 291pp. Fine contemporary binding full leather gilt, all edges marbled to match the endpapers, very little wear [small amount of very minor damage to volume labels on the spine], tight, sound and very clean internally with no previous ownership marking, offsetting to the title pages and frontispieces as is usual with this title. The half titles have been retained: they were often removed at this period when buyers had their books bound to their own specifiacvation. Skinner was an officer serving in the 31st Regiment (Huntingdonshire). The work ends with a brief description of Muscat, ‘the hottest place on earth’, as Skinner takes ship for Calcutta.   mar26/2
