Maler Kotla, an unused envelope embossed with the arms of the State in green

A large size envelope, 7¼ x 4¾ ins [18.5 x 125.cm], of the size used for formal invitations. The flap of the envelope is embossed in green with the arms of the Nawab of Maler Kotla, with the lettering Maler Kotla State within an oval. The envelope, which is unused, probably dates from the 1930s. The envelope, made by Rama & Co of Simla and New Delhi, is unused and probably dates from the 1930s. Maler Kotla was a small Muslim State close to Patiala in the Punjab.   jul6/2

Provenance: Bought with other old stock from Rama’s old shop on The Mall in Simla around 30 years ago when it was closing down.
