Marquess of Linlithgow, a garden party invitation 1938

A viceregal invitation, 7 x 6½ ins. The invitation is printed in palace script beneath the Viceroy the Marquess of Linlithgow’s monogram embossed in gold inviting Lt.Colonel & Mrs Sundias Smith to a Garden Party on 28th December 1938. There is an old ink blot above the coronet, indentation from a paper clip, slight damp marking to lower quarter. Lt Col Sundias-Smith was commanding officer of the 1st Battalion the Punjab Regiment. jul4/9
