Military officer’s plume tin for a Hussar or RHA plume

A military officer’s japanned metal plume tin. The tin measures 20 x 1½ ins and has a lid at each end, both in good working order. There is some scatching to he paint and a small dent at one end shown in an illustration, commensurate with use. Pre WWI regulations prescribed plumes for Hussar and Royal Horse artillery to be 14 ins  but the length of the supporting stem might vary from  manufacturer to manufacturer accounting for tins of varying length. The tin has to open at both ends or it would not be possible for the feathers to fold back correctly.  jul27/1
