Royal Artillery, late Georgian period domed pewter button, 15mm

£10.00

The small size 15mm domed, open backed, pewter button has the design of three cannon balls above three cannon, a design introduced about 1790 and used until around 1830 [see Parkyn illus 54]. This appears to be a battlefield or camp relic with the usual signs of surface corrosion and wear but it is complete with a strong iron shank. There is probably a backmark to found by cleaning but I cannot make it out at the moment.     mar5/1
