Royal Garrison Artillery, identified officers of 1st Heavy Bde 1911

POA

A good group photograph of the 17 officers, all identified on the old album card. They wear service dress with jodhpurs and riding boots. The size of the image is 11½ x 6¾ins. As is quite common for even formal portraits like this there are a couple of dogs included – but not named. The commanding officer is W C Hunter-Blair and the other names are: Matthews, Mackintosh, Parker, Ellershaw, MacClennan, Goff, Bennett, Greig, Geary Hearle. Ellis, Higgon, Hill, Kemble. Moore, and Fraser. The date and detail of this photograph would enable a researcher to trace the officers’ careers through WWI. We have just looked at the CO and see that Hunter Blair rose to be a Major General and was awarded a CB and CMG.       apr30/1.    SOLD
