Royal Visit to India of H.R.H. The Prince of Wales 1875-1876.
£275.00
A small silver medalet believed to have been given to members of the crew of HMS Serapis. The oval medal measures approximately 25 x 22mm, has a small fixed ring at the top for suspension and shows on the obverse the Prince of Wales’s emblem surrounded by the royal motto within the chain of the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India with the initials A and E to the sides. The reverse has the lettering “H.RH. ALBERT EDWARD PRINCE OF WALES INDIA 1875-6”. We are not sure whether this medalet was given totthe whole crews or selected members. Judging by its scarcity I would incline to think the latter. dec27/3
