Viceroy’s House. A large, 14½ x 8¾ ins., sepia toned view of the Lutyens building in the 1930s with the Union flag abpve the central dome. The excellent sepia toned, unmounted photograph unfortunately has no photographer’s credit. It came to us in a folder of material which had belonged to one ot the Marquess of Linlithgow’s aides de camp when he was Viceroy in the late 1930s. may 23/2 SOLD 24th May 2025
Provenance: By descent from Captain W.A.G. Burns, Coldstream Guards. [later Major General Sir George]. The wonderful building, now known as Rashtrapati Bjavan and the residence of India’s President, provides a magnificent backdrop fpor large scale ceremonies such as the Independence Day and Beating the Retreat ceremonies.
