Turkish Crimean War Medal converted to a brooch

I am interested in medals which have been altered in some unofficial way and given a second life, perhaps as a brooch like this example of the Crimean War Medals awarded to allied troops by the Turkish ruler. Others my have been mounted on stands and used as menu or place holders. I have recently seen an Indian Mutiny set into the bottom of a silver cup and a bracelet made from four Victorian medals linked by chain.

I am also interested in 19th century nedals of Indian interest even if the naming has been erased, as happened sometimes when soldiers or their families did not want others to know the awards had been sold.
