B V Volunteer Militia button, early 19th century, 21mm

POA

A late Georgian officer’s button probably dating from the Napoleonic Wars period around 1800-1810. This 21mm button would have been the largest size worn on an officer’s coatee. The bold BV  initials beneath a Georgian crown have been taken to refer to the Burnham Volunteers but we are uncertain about thge attribution at ther moment. The open backed button retains most its original gilt and  has no back mark. feb22/2 SOLD 16th Sept. 2025
