A very small [approximtely 2¾ ins], well modelled souvenir bayonet with a mother of pearl hilt. The single sided bayonet is fastened to a supporting metal bar with a round stand at the tip, possibly making it for use as a pipe tamper. The blade is engraved YSER in commemoration of the important battle of October 1914 in whcih the Belgian Army suffered huge numbers of casualties in halting a German advance. mar10/2
