16th Foot.  The Bedfordshire Regiment. An officer’s gilt 25mm button with the backmark JENNENS & Co LONDON. This is the pattern worn from 1855 – 1881 when the regiment assumed the title The Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment.  Although not showing signs of rubbing the button appears to have lost almost all the original gilt finish and now has the look of copper.    jul4/7
